Parallel Algorithms for Arrangements 1

We give the first efficient parallel algorithms for solving the arrangement problem. We give a deterministic algorithm for the CREW PRAM which runs in nearly optimal bounds of O(log n log∗ n) time and n2/ log n processors. We generalize this to obtain an O(log n log∗ n)-time algorithm using nd / log n processors for solving the problem in d dimensions. We also give a randomized algorithm for th...

I = 0 , 1 ππ and I = 1 / 2 Kπ Scattering using Quark Born

We extend the quark Born diagram formalism for hadron-hadron scattering to processes with valence q ¯ q annihilation, specifically I = 0 and I = 1 ππ and I = 1/2 Kπ elastic scattering. This involves the s-channel hybrid annihilation process q 2 ¯ q 2 → q ¯ qg → q 2 ¯ q 2 and conventional s-channel q ¯ q resonances, in addition to the t-channel gluon exchange treated previously using this formal...

Complex Reflection Arrangements Are K ( Π , 1 )

Let V be a finite dimensional complex vector space and W ⊆ GL(V ) be a finite complex reflection group. Let V reg be the complement in V of the reflecting hyperplanes. We prove that V reg is a K(π, 1) space. This was predicted by a classical conjecture, originally stated by Brieskorn for complexified real reflection group. The complexified real case follows from a theorem of Deligne and, after ...

Measuring Arg ( V ub ) in B → Kπ

It has previously been shown that a measurement of Arg(Vub) = γ can be obtained from a triangle construction using B(B0 → K+π−), B(B̄0 → K−π+), B(B± → K0 sπ), and B(B± → π±π0). We evaluate experimental as well as theoretical uncertainties in this measurement. We find that a measurement of γ with the next generation B-factories (BaBar, BELLE, CLEO III) is statistics rather than theory limited if ...

Final State Interaction in B → Kπ Decays

We discuss the rescattering effects in decays B → π +K. The picture we take is very simple: first, B decay into K ∗ ρ, then K∗ and ρ go to kaon and pion by exchanging a pion. We find a up to ten percent CP violation asymmetry rate. We also discuss its correction to the constraint of angle γ proposed recently.
